RULES
Here are the rules of our fair little site here! Please let this be the first thing that you read before attempting a character. We all want to make certain that we follow the rules as we do not want there to be problems between players. So, please, take the few moments it takes to read this first:
1. Writing Level: Here at Marvel Multiverse we are looking for Intermediate to Advanced levels of writing. Not to make anyone feel left out, but simply because the stories and threads flow a bit better when there is some experience behind the players writing.
2. Read Before Responding: Quite possibly one of the most important rules here is to make sure that you read a player’s post fully before you respond. It is good practice to make sure that you know what was said or done before you reply and it saves us all a lot of headaches in the end.
3. Activity on Site: Since this site does utilize Canon characters, many of which can be extremely popular, we ask that you only join if you are serious about joining and spending some time here. The last thing we want is for someone to join, take an awesome Canon character, and then not post. Activity Checks will be done once a month to make sure that people are actually using their characters. If it is seen that you do not have any qualifying active posts, your character will once again become open. You will be free to reapply, but there will be a 30 day waiting period before you can reapply with that same character. And remember that we will be watching you very closely if this becomes a habit.
4. Posting Etiquette: We all have different writing styles and techniques and we do not want to hamper anyone but we do ask that you follow some simple posting guidelines:
5. Killing Off Characters: Don’t. That’s a simple rule. We ask that no one kill another person’s character unless they have permission from the character’s player and said player has already spoken to Staff members. We do not need a characters dying left and right, it’s not cool. And, really we shouldn’t have to say this but it has been done before, DO NOT create a character simply to be the sacrificial lamb for someone else’s character. This too will be not tolerated.
6. Godmodding: If you are joining a forum RP, then you should be familiar with what Godmodding is. So we will leave the rule about it short and sweet: DO. NOT. DO. IT. If godmodding, speaking or acting for another player's character, is suspected or discovered, Staff members will have no issue with banning you. So please, do not practice it. We don’t like it.
7. Three Days: This rule is really more for large threads with more than two players. Essentially this rule has been created in order to ensure that threads keep moving and do not slow down or grind to a halt waiting for a single person. Incidents such as those are real muse killers. Therefore, threads with more than two players must following a posting order. If it is someone’s turn and they have not posted after 72 hours, their character is skipped and the thread moves on. However, this rule can be overlooked if all participating players agree that they will wait. But all players must agree to it. For larger threads that are important to site plot, we will enact the three-day rule without exception.
Please respect this rule as we want to keep stories going and not grow stagnant.
8. No Mary Sues or Marty Stus!: No character is perfect. If we seeing anyone acting like this, you will be notified by Staff members. If it contines, it can result being being released from the site. Please don't mess around with this.
9. Have fun!: That should be self-explanatory. :B

4. Posting Etiquette: We all have different writing styles and techniques and we do not want to hamper anyone but we do ask that you follow some simple posting guidelines:
a. Keep posts in “Third-person” point-of-view, past tense. It is just neater that way and flows better with this type of forum.
b. Swear words, cursing, racial slurs, etc., will not be tolerated. Even if that is how your character talks, we ask that you please try to tone it down. This is a public site, after all, and we wouldn’t want things to get ugly. If you absolutely need to write your character swearing, then please use something tasteful such as bleeping the word: “Wolverine growled and said, “That ****er thinks he can tell me what to do?!’ “ Or vaguely describing it: “A litany of swear words grumbled from under Cyclops’ breath.” Let’s please keep things clean.
c. We ask that posts be a minimum of 300 words. In the grand scheme of things, that is not very long and should be easily attainable. Remember, it is good to give your threading partner something to work with and not just one line of dialogue or action.
d. We’re not looking for literary award winning material but we do ask that your posts follow usual grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules. Just give your post a once over to make sure that things look okay. This is especially true for any code usage within your post.
e. Fight scenes need to be fair. That is extremely important. If your character and another are about to throw down, we ask that you keep things fair. Have your character throw a punch, but do not designate whether or not it actually hits them. On the flip side, if your character is being punched, do not dodge ALL the time. Get some bruises! Take a punch or two! Make it interesting, yo!
f. Sex scenes. Yes, yes, that I’m afraid I have to address this. We ask that if characters are about to give in to carnal desires, PLEASE keep things tasteful. Do not get graphic and always [FADE TO BLACK] by the end of the post. This is not a porn site and if any staff member sees anything like that going on, we will only warn you once. After that, you can and will be banned.
g. Graphic violence? See the above message. >
