How Marvel Multiverse Works

Now this is extremely important and we ask that all players read this is order to get a sense of how the world here at Marvel Multiverse works. If you have read the rules (which you should have done first) you have an idea of what we expect of our players. But since we don’t want you to be completely in the dark, we will give you a little heads up as to how the world works.

Essentially the dimensional walls between realities have shattered due to the supposed destruction of the Infinity Gems. What this means is that throughout the world, pockets and tears in the dimensional fabric are occurring at random intervals. In Chicago, a herd of dinosaurs may suddenly appear through a crack, tear through a city street, and then vanish as if nothing ever happened. On the other hand, in Los Angeles, a futuristic metropolis could pop up in the middle of the city and last for days or months before suddenly disappearing as well. The world itself is in turmoil and yet people are still trying to learn to live with the strange occurrences.

Now, New York City has been affected but it is a little more stable. Each of the five boroughs of New York: Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island, have become like wedges of stabilized dimensions. Each area has become its own, small pocket universe that appears as one of several Marvel universes included 2099, Ultimate, Noir, 1602, and Cinematic. Their universes are stable within the borders of the borough but on occasion may experience random tears as shown throughout the world.

So, you may ask yourself, “Me, if these boroughs are stable, why doesn’t some dictator from 2099 go and conquer 1602? Whadda they going do? Shoot arrows?! Bwa ahahahaha!”

Well you would be right! 1602 Universe may not stand up for long against the 2099 universe, BUT, while the dimensional walls are shattering there are still some laws in place. Essentially characters from other dimensions may cross over into others for as long as they like, but if there are dimension altering changes, such as an invasion squad, an uber powerful monster causing massive damage, then the ultimate laws of reality will put a stop to it. Normally this means that the instigator(s) will be shunted back to their own dimensional wedge. We have trust that you, the player, will recognize this and not try to take over other dimensions. Realities have a treaty going on at the moment that no one will attack the other so please keep this in mind, even if you do play a villain. Outside of New York, however, let your mind have free range!

With this in mind, feel free to let your imaginations run! Have 2099 X-Men team up with Noir Spider-Man in Staten Island 1602, but remember any life altering events will cause the unseen dimensional forces to knock people back home. On top of that, there will always be random cracks or tears throughout the world so characters are free to utilize and interact with them. However, these tears do not last as long as those in stable pockets in New York.
