CANON CHARACTERS
One of the most important questions you’ve probably already asked yourself is…How do I pick my character? I can tell you that that is a tough question but it is by no means one that you cannot answer. There are TONS of characters peppered throughout the Marvel Multiverse for you to pick from but how does your choice affect others? Here is a simply guideline for picking characters to apply for:
1.) Nearly any character can be chosen from the Marvel Canon universe. For those that are not acceptable, please check the Banned List. Aside from those, the characters within the canon universe are able to be apped. This includes Earth 616, Marvel Noir, Marvel 1602, Ultimate Marvel Universe, Marvel 2099, and so on. If you are unsure if a character will be acceptable, please contact a staff member. We are happy to help.
2.) For the sake of making sure that we do not have twenty Peter Parkers running around our site, we are keeping things simplified by allowing only ONE of a single character, no matter the universe. For example, if someone is currently roleplaying as Ultimate Spiderman / Peter Parker, then Earth 616 Spiderman / Peter Parker cannot be apped since they are technically the same character. However, Spiderman 2099 / Miguel O’Hara, or Spider-Man / Miles Morales CAN be apped as they are essentially different characters. So, when deciding to app a character, do make sure to check the Taken Character’s list to see if a character you want to app is already taken. If you are unsure if you can app someone, please contact the Marvel Multiverse staff! On occasion we do may exceptions if the character is different enough and we can provide you with an answer.
3.) We ask that when you choose your character, please leave them room to grow. Essentially what that means is that do not start off your character with the maximum amount of power that they have available. Start slow and build up and train during roleplay to make things more fun for everyone here.
4.) If you are going to pick a Canon Character from an alternate dimension, then it HAS to be a CANON alternate dimension so it has to be Marvel recognized. Make sure that when you apply for such a character, then you include a link to the source of your information.
5.) You are allowed multiple characters but they can only be achieved after you have received a minimum of 20 posts were account you already have. For example, if you plav Wolverine and you want to play Green Goblin, then you need to have 20 posts on Wolverine first. This rule builds on itself per character:
1st Character: Apply
2nd Character: 20 posts on 1st
3rd Character: 40 posts on 1st, 20 posts on 2nd
4th Character: 60 posts on 1st, 40 posts on 2nd, 20 posts on 3rd.
And so on. At the moment players are only allowed a maximum of FOUR characters on the board, so make your choices count. We’re not stating this to be mean, but we do not want a single person playing twenty or more characters (even if they think they can handle it). It is not fair to others for characters to be hogged by a single player.
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS
Original characters are accepted on Marvel Multiverse but they have to follow a very specific set of guidelines. Please make sure to read this before you decide to apply for an original:
1.) Backstory: Original characters can have any type of backstory: science accident, magic, mutant birth, etc. However, if you want some different, we do have a backstory where, due to the shattering of the infinity gems, some people have been affected by shards of the Power Gem. If you choose to take this course, make sure you state that your character only developed powers within the last year and nothing more. At the moment, ONLY the power gem has affected people but this should be enough to explain most any new ability.
2.) Original characters can ONLY be applied for as your 2nd character and on. If you want to have 3 original characters, go for it, but your 1st character MUST be a canon character. We ask for this because we want to make sure you have the commitment continue on with us.
3.) Powers, Hi-Tech Gadgets, Magic Abilities: We ask that all Original Characters start off with only one or two FOCUSES. For example, if you want a magic character, narrow their abilities down to only TWO, related, focuses such as: “Flight” and “Wind Summoning”. It doesn’t really make sense for your original mutant character to transform into a snake and also control fire. If you are unsure about the abilities of your Original Character, then do contact Staff members. We are only too happy to help.
4.) When your original character has been accepted, please do not use movie or comic images of a canon character for them. It is fine if you want, say, want to use Robert Downey Jr. for your Original Character, Metal Dude, but please do not use any images, altered or not, of Iron Man from the movies or from the comics. We ask that you please respect this rule as well.
5.) No original canon legacies! Essentially, please do not create an original character that is the son of an illicit affair between Wolverine and female-alternate-universe Thorina. You can only play a Legacy IF they are canon and you have to link that information to prove it.
EXTRA NOTE
This is just an extra note. Not ALL character applied for HAVE to be heroes, villains, or anti-heroes. We encourage you to app canon and original civilians, just normal humans trying to live in this strange world. So keep that in mind as you are choosing your characters!
