Reality has shattered. An unknown force in the universe has attempted the unthinkable and, in the process, shattered the dimensions of earth. In an attempt at ultimate power, an unknown being or organization has attempted to unify all six infinity gems into a single Infinity Diamond. However, this abomination of science and magic proved to be far too unstable. The diamond has supposedly shattered, cast across dimensions of space, time, and reality, fragmenting reality as people know it. The change has been a drastic one.
Earth is one place that has suffered greatly from the fragmenting of reality. Across the world pockets of dimensions, cracks in reality, appear unstable across the landscape. Small towns, metropolitan cities, isolated villages, they all have begun to experience waves of insanity that they can barely understand. While one more the town will be overrun with dinosaurs, in another, hi-tech skyscrapers of the future tower into the sky. Additional, random people have been gifted (or cursed) with strange abilities that they either exploit or hide in fear from. However as quickly as they appear, they disappear, on occasion leaving behind individuals misplaced in time and space. However, surprisingly, there is one place on Earth that has achieved a form of stability…
New York City, a hub of heroic and villain activity has suffered from the destruction of the dimensional walls and yet it is the most stable location in the world. Dimensional rifts has isolated and stabilized themselves into the five boroughs of New York:
New York City, a hub of heroic and villain activity has suffered from the destruction of the dimensional walls and yet it is the most stable location in the world. Dimensional rifts has isolated and stabilized themselves into the five boroughs of New York:
- Manhattan: Probably the most unchanged, Manhattan greatly resembles its former self with the occasional crack or rift opening and then closing at random intervals.
- Bronx: Dark, classic, the Bronx now embodies the essence of the Marvel Noir universe. Things seem firmly set in the 1940s. Time has frozen still here in a world of mobsters, gumshoes, and dames.
- Queens: Towering buildings, flying cars, advanced tech, Queens now a wedged dimension of the 2099 Marvel Universe.
- Brooklyn: Revamped and slightly younger seem, Brooklyn has now become a wedge of the Ultimate Marvel universe. Extremely similar to the normalcy of Manhattan; just edgier.
- Staten Island: Looks medieval, taking on the appearance of the 1602 Marvel Universe. Rolling hills, archaic castles and villages dot the landscape, reminding people of the past.
A year has passed since the cataclysm and the world has attempted to adapt. The universes in New York City have reached a peace treaty between themselves and, as the only city in the world with anything even close to stabilization in the aftermath, how will heroes survive? Will they continue to strive to do their jobs? Will villains take advantage of the confusion? Could new allies be made from worlds across the dimensional oceans? Only time will tell.
